CPT Archive Custom Fields in Oxygen using ACF Extended

Sridhar Katakam

This members-only tutorial provides the steps to create custom fields for Custom Post Type archives in WordPress using ACF Extended, populate them and display their values on the front end using a template that applies to all CPT archives in Oxygen.

After implementing the tutorial, each CPT archive will automatically show the specified custom field values without having to manually hardcode the CPT slug.

Note: ACF Pro is needed for ACF Extended.

Step 1

Install and activate ACF Extended.

Go to Custom Fields > Add New.

Create a field group with the location set to all post type archives.

Step 2

If you have not already created your CPT(s), go to Tools > Post Types.

Click Add New and create your CPT.

Under the Admin tab, set Archive Page to Yes.

If the CPTs are already present, we need to enable ACF Extended's Admin Archives on them using the register_post_type_args filter.
