When I started blogging here in June 2018, I did not expect Oxygen to grow on me to such an extent that I got totally immersed in it. A little more than a year and I have written 247 tutorials on it thus far.
247 in 288 days (excluding weekends and public holidays).
Of these, 140 are free and 107 are for paid members.
During this last year, there were several times when I got obsessed with solving a problem and spent days on it even a week in some instances to go through the code in Oxygen, understand how it’s built, do google searches, ask in forums, consult others, do trial and errors, fail and re-try. One example is my Oxygen Theme Enabler plugin.
Another marathon effort was when I put together the WooCommerce tutorial.
Many joined the site’s membership after realizing the value in what I was offering. As I started interacting more with my site’s members in my Facebook group it became clear to me that there is no dearth of topics for new tutorials.
But producing tutorials almost every day and helping others in Facebook groups offering code help and general guidance for a one-time payment of $99 is not a sustainable model in the long run especially since I am just one guy and do not have a team.
Therefore, I have decided to switch to a recurring monthly payment subscription model. Beginning in about a week’s time the LTD (lifetime deal) of $99 is going to go away and the price will become $27/month.
From my observation, the general tendency of users in the Oxygen community seems to be that of resistance to anything recurring especially since Oxygen is a one-time payment. But Oxygen is an exception. It is not the norm. Software that useful should not be that cheap.
I understand not many new users will become members when they see the new pricing and say “oh come on, not another subscription!”. And, that’s okay. I will soon add hosting and maintenance site care services. Plus, I have other things in place.
If you are on the fence or are considering to purchase the membership, do so before next Monday.
Non-members can see the countdown timer above the header and yes, I am going to write a tutorial on how to set up a custom condition to output an element based on whether the current user has purchased a given MemberPress‘ membership.
Join MembershipIf you are already a member, thank you. There is no change in your membership access and it will continue to work as always, for ever.
Together, we will make Oxygen great again. Oh wait, it is already great. Okay, we will make it awesome! How about that?
